Alka Sharma

Alka Sharma is the Founder and Director of Mandi Theater, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promote Indian theater to the American community at large. Passionately immersed in the world of theater, she has won several acting accolades as an amateur artist both in India and abroad. A strong patron of the arts, Alka has been active in Indian Theatre since her school and college days, where she acted and directed several short plays. She has directed and acted in lead roles in multiple successful productions. She and her team also bagged many awards in the field of Theatre and Community Service, and has been strengthening the Indian roots in the USA.

Dawn is currently the Performing Arts Supervisor for Oak Lawn Park District!s IPRA Award Winning Community Theatre program where she produces, directs, choreographs and also oversees their Dance program. She also works with the Beverly Theatre Guild (BTG) which is currently the oldest running Community Theatre in Chicago. She has connections with Drama Group in Chicago Heights, Spotlight Arts Collective in Frankfort as well as 3KG and 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park where she directed their first ever musical in 2019. Over the past 20 years she has worked on several High School productions on the Southside of Chicago and was the tap choreographer for IHSA!s All State production of Big Fish. When she is not busy creating art, she enjoys spending time with her supportive husband and amazing daughter who also shares a love for the arts.
