    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The technical director works closely with the director to design, implement, and run the technical aspects of the theatrical production.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    •  Strong leadership and organizational skills

    •  Exhibits skillful communication with the students involved in the production and the production team

    •  Exhibits an ability to foster positive relationships with the students involved in the production and the production team

    •  Technical theater experience preferred

     

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:

    •  Meets regularly with the director

    •  Orders any necessary technical equipment for the production

    •  Create and train a team of student technicians

    •  Assign student technicians to run the technical aspects of the show

    •  Oversees the programming of the light/sound board

    •  Coordinates schedules with the student technicians, director and other theater staff

    •  Ensure that the technical components are put away and/or repaired after the production

    •  Attend to all other duties and tasks related to the technical aspects of the show as assigned by the director and/or Activities Director


    REPORTS TO: Senior Showcase Director

    SUPERVISES: Lights and Sound Crew

    CATEGORY:C ($1,943-$2,915)

    AIFI summer interns will get a career jumpstart into the parallel Chicago fashion and costume production industries. Interns will have many development and networking opportunities by attending our events, which include monthly socials, breakfast clubs, educational events, clothing swaps, and more. Additionally, we offer flexible scheduling, allowing the student to participate in other summer programs or employment. Weekly hours will vary depending on the organization's and the intern's needs, approximately 5-10 hours per week, paid hourly, with the opportunity for hybrid/remote work as deemed appropriate. There will be two weeks where hours go up to 20 to assist in preparing for major events. 

    Qualifications:

    • Eagerness to learn

    • Career interest in fashion or costume

    • Flexibility and curiosity

    • Ability to take direction and adjust to new information

    • Self-motivated in less structured environments

    Glenbard South High School has a .5 Technical Director position open for the 2024-2025 school year. This position involves set design/build, props, and run crew. The season involves three shows, one children's show with a minimal set (mid-fall), one straight play (late fall/early winter), and one musical in the spring (April). The fall shows are in a smaller theater, and the musical is in a larger auditorium with fly space. There is a dedicated scene shop.

    Job Requirements: 

    Knowledge of set construction, painting techniques, and rigging. Ability to train/supervise students in shop safety, generate set designs based on director input/script needs, work within budget, and manage run crew students during tech/show weeks.

    The Department of Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) invites applications for a Full-Time Visiting Artist. The position begins in August of 2024.

    Responsibilities

    Full-time Visiting Artists in the Department of Painting and Drawing teach undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate level classes, including working with Post-baccalaureate and MFA students on a tutorial basis. Undergraduate classes will include studio drawing and studio painting at all curricular and developmental levels within the interdisciplinary art and design school environment of SAIC.

    Zion Benton Township High School District 126 will be producing Mean Girls, High School Edition as our spring musical, with performance dates April 18-20. Our tech crew meets Monday-Thursday from 3 pm to 5:30 pm, and some Saturdays (at the TD’s discretion).

    Responsibilities: 1) Lead and instruct the crew in the creation of sets and props. 2) Offer design advice in areas of set, props, & lighting 3)Supervise all crew hours & 4)Stay within our budget. Compensation is currently a flat stipend of $3309 (minus taxes).

    Must pass a background check to work with students. Experience in set design/construction, rigging, and properties is a must.
