Professional Theatre Opportunities Audition Information
Performance Auditions Auditions must be solo presentations lasting no more than ninety seconds. Time begins after you introduce yourself by stating your name, school, and the titles of your selections. Participants should prepare their best ninety seconds of material—this may include one monologue or song, two contrasting pieces, or a song and a monologue. Dress neatly (no costumes). Singers must provide clean, bound sheet music for the accompanist with clearly marked start and end points. No practice time will be given, and personal accompanists, recorded music, or a cappella singing are not permitted. When selecting monologues, avoid dialects, accents, or classical material unless properly trained. Dance Auditions Dance auditionees will learn a musical theatre combination on site and may choose to perform a basic or advanced version. Wear appropriate attire and shoes for movement. Pre-choreographed routines will not be accepted. Technical Auditions Technical auditions are three minutes long, beginning after a brief introduction with your name and school. Participants must bring their own laptops; power outlets will be available. A portfolio is required and may include blueprints, renderings, sketches, models, photos, or digital presentations. Poster boards and PowerPoints are encouraged. Those with coursework in drafting, design, or visual arts should include examples of that work. Stage management, publicity, and theatre administration candidates should include journals, promptbooks, or marketing materials. |
