Parking, Hotels, Meals, Transportation, MapsTransportation
Transportation is the responsibility of the individual high schools. If needed, the Illinois Terminal website offers information on various public transportation options such as Amtrak and Greyhound. Peoria Charter Coach Company also offers daily bus service between campus and the Chicagoland area. The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) offers public bus service throughout C-U, including campus. A one-way trip is just $1, and you can pay using coins, $1 bills, tokens, or the Token Transit App. MTD's Trip Planner is a convenient tool to help plan your trip. Directions to Festival Headquarters: Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (500 S Goodwin Ave, Urbana, IL 61801) Please be mindful of the many crosswalks when driving on campus, and always give the right of way to pedestrians. ParkingAs a general rule, please follow all University parking signs and permits very carefully, and make sure this information is passed on to all drivers. Neither the Festival nor the University will pay for parking tickets/fines. BUSES/TRUCKS: If the vehicle cannot fit in a single, regular parking space, it will need to be parked in Lot F23 (on Florida Ave. near Lincoln Ave.). There is not room near the Krannert Center for parking large vehicles. Drivers should pick up and drop off students at streets adjacent to KCPA, but vehicles must be parked off-campus or in Lot F23. Buses/trucks may park in Lot F23 after 5:00 pm on Thursday and anytime on Friday and Saturday. CARS/VANS: On Thursday before 5:00 pm, limited parking is available on the streets surrounding KCPA, in Lot D5 (KCPA garage), in Lot D9 (east of Illinois Street Residence Hall) and in Lot D22 (south of Levis Faculty Center). The University is in the process of removing its standard parking meters, so you may need to pay by app* as opposed to using quarters. Many parking spots are free in the evening, but please check the spot's sign to be sure. Parking restrictions on Friday are the same as Thursday. On Saturday, University-owned parking lots around KCPA are available at no cost all day. Some parking spots do charge on Saturdays, so be sure to check the signage. Parking Apps:
Campus Parking Food / BeverageMeal Cards You have the option to purchase a meal card for each of your sponsors and students when you register online for the Festival. The meal cards are $25/each and cover lunch on Friday, January 10 and lunch on Saturday, January 11 at the Illinois Street Dining Center (ISR). Located across the street from the Krannert Center (FestivalHQ), the Illinois Street Dining Center (ISR) is open for lunch from 11:00am -2:00 pm and offers all-you-care-to-eat, cafeteria-style dining. A wide variety of selections are available including salad bar, deli, hot entrees, grilled sandwiches, pizza, fresh fruit, and dessert. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available. Please ask a dining staff member if you need assistance with finding something that meets your needs. Attendees who have other, more specific dietary restrictions or allergies and will be using a meal card can notify UIUC Dining Services HERE. UIUC Dining's Eatsmart App includes ingredients and nutritional content.
There are several eateries located on the block just south of KCPA, including Subway and Rosati’s Pizza. Other nearby eateries include Jimmy Johns and Caffe Paradiso (southeast of KCPA on Lincoln Ave.), plus Manolo’s Pizza and Empanadas and The Bread Company (just across Oregon St. at Goodwin Ave.). Click HERE for the Campustown Dining Guide. The Illini Union has a small food court in its basement. Click here to see what eateries are located in the food court and their hours. There are many more options just west of the Illini Union, on or near Green Street, such as: Panda Express, Noodles & Company, Chipotle, Panera, Jimmy John's, and Potbelly's. You may also find food trucks in various locations around campus. Lodging / Hotel ListYou are responsible for making your own lodging arrangements for the Festival. The referenced list below is not a comprehensive list of hotels in the Champaign-Urbana area; these are the hotels that have currently responded to UIUC's call for proposals. Other area hotels may have plenty of rooms available at competitive rates. Be sure to reference "Illinois High School Theatre Festival" when making your reservation. RESERVATIONS: It is recommended to call the hotels in order to make your room reservations. You may book online if a reservation link is available. When calling, please reference the "Illinois High School Theatre Festival Room Block". CUT-OFF DATES: All hotels have a cut-off date. This is generally 3-4 weeks prior.
